The Best Time To Buy Airline Tickets by Gia Fortun-Plumley

There’s a common misconception that there is a specific time and day to buy airline tickets at the lowest fare. To be completely honest, that is not true. Every week, certain airlines come up with promosĀ  and prices for air tickets seem to be getting lower every time you scout around. The rise of Low Cost Carries (LCCs) has also challenged the airline industry to come up with better rates since travel has become more accessible to everyone who can afford it.

So now you may be wondering, when exactly should I buy my airline tickets to get the best deals?

The answer: Go to the two biggest expos in the country. The first is the annual Travel and Tour Expo (TTE) usually held on the second weekend of February at the SMX in SM MOA. The second is the annual Travel Madness Expo (TME) usually held in the first weekend of July (will be held soon on July 4-7, 2019). These expos are strategically placed in the first and second half of the year so you can plan your travels in advance. Look for the Fiesta Tours and Travel booth (2nd floor in the TTE and 1st floor in the TME) to get the best deals. This year, Fiesta will be located on booth #84 during the TME right beside the Philippine Airlines booth.

Just remember, the travel expo can get overwhelming at times because there are so many booths that offer pretty much the same things. The best time to go would be on the first day (and line up early!) so that the inventory is wide open. If you wait until the last day, tendency is that the slots for the promos have all been taken. It’s important to remember that most airlines don’t sell during the expos and course it through different travel agencies. Travel agencies are the best source of information as well as they sell different airlines so you can have several options. It would be ideal to know the exact dates you want to go, flight details and destinations to save you time when you go to the expo.

Pro tip: You don’t have to go to the travel expo physically. If you have specific travel dates and destinations already, you can contact Gia Fortun of Fiesta Tours and Travel at +639178681978 or [email protected] and she can let you know the best offers without having to go to the expo itself. The travel agency gets the deals in their office (517 Alonzo Street, Malate, Manila) and can easily do transactions over-the-phone or via e-mail. Worried about payment? Fiesta Tours and Travel accepts bank deposits and credit card transactions through their website: www.fiestatours.com.ph.
